amazing.

when i got home from work today, i was soaked in sweat and super hot. i sat down at my computer and followed my usual routine of reading facebook status updates and i read the following...

"Likes DDs frozen hot choc! What a duh! kind of good idea! Yum! Probably terrible nutritionally but it's ok b/c it's already 90! :p"

"dunkin donuts frozen hot chocolate is yummy!"

after reading these two updates... i immediately wanted to drive to dunkin' donuts and buy a frozen hot chocolate. i was hot and cranky. and this sounded amazing!

however, as the evening went on. i got lazy and had no desire to drive anywhere... tim even pulled the old "you fly, and i buy" trick... and i still didn't want to drive to pick one up...

then i got hit with an idea. could i make my own? i googled recipes and found one to tweak...

ingredients:

3 packets of Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate packets
1.5 cups of 1% milk
2 cups of ice
hershey syrup (optional)

Blend together the milk, hot chocolate packets and ice...

drizzle some chocolate syrup on top (mine is the one with the orange straw) and viola! you have a frozen hot chocolate... for TWO! and a little extra if your significant other wants to top their drink off.
it ended up being 235 calories per glass...in comparison to a small Dunkin' Donuts frozen hot chocolate for 430 calories.

i am still looking forward to the day i try a real frozen hot chocolate from DD but for now, i will settle on my little homemade one.

happy thursday!

lesson from a cat.

how come when my cat lays on the ground, belly spread on the carpet, arms and legs outstretched. it is cute.

she has not a care in the world about her weight. let the belly roll...

i should take a lesson from my cat.

and lay back and enjoy life... no matter what i look like.

around the corner...

my birthday is right around the corner... the corner being five days!!

i am a huge birthday person. i love birthdays. and i especially LOVE my birthday.

this birthday is a big one. i am turning 30... a few of my friends have had a hard time turning the big 3-0. even my husband was miserable when his 30th hit.

age doesn't bother me. i don't mind that number going up.... in fact i am thankful that it is going up.

funny. that i don't mind my age getting higher... but if i see the number on the scale get higher...water works.

looking forward to turning 30. celebrating with friends and family. and beginning a new decade of my life. hopefully a healthier one.

how do you feel about birthdays and getting older?

yikes.

148.2. that is the number i saw this morning on the scale. i am super embarrassed. and i am super angry at myself.

i confess that i cried a little this morning when i saw the number. but i knew it was coming... you see...i have lost total focus on eating healthy... it started with a dorito a little over a week ago. and that dorito turned into a binge eat after work. and the same thing the next day. and the next day.

so low and behold. i gained 3 pounds in a week.

it just shows me that i can't eat and enjoy without having a consequence. i ate pizza, crab fries, ice cream, a breakfast sandwich, a hoagie, and salt water taffies. i ate fudge. and buffalo shrimp. i went overboard. and the scale showed it. i guess it is true... the scale never lies...

i had a feeling that when i saw that twenty pound loss mark a couple of weeks ago that i would start gaining it back again. hence. my blog title...

always twenty pounds to go...

next weigh in: Monday June 13th.

hitting a rough patch. trying to focus. and feel positive and confident.

i am noting my weakness and moving on...

a beach weekend.

another day closer to the end. the end of the school year that is!!

this past weekend has been a busy one... friday after work, i jumped in the car with a friend, and we headed to Ocean City, New Jersey for a relaxing, fun filled, beach weekend.

tim went down to the shore earlier in the day on friday... so i was excited when i met him at a restaurant outside of OCNJ.

we spent the majority of our time sitting on the beach and playing paddle ball.

we ended the weekend on the boardwalk.

on the boardwalk we split a pizza and people-watched as we ate.

now back to school... i am rushing my weekend so i can get back to work. the faster i get back to work, the faster it will be over.

mcdonalds

tonight, tim had mcdonald's for dinner. he had a number 4. a two cheeseburger meal.

i had dinner earlier in the evening with a friend so i opted out of eating micky d's. i did eat a small plain sundae for about 150 calories.

of course, when tim started eating his french fries. i had to eat one. and then another. and then a few more. he then let me have a bite of one of his cheeseburgers.

as i was savoring this food... it made me realize something... I LOVE MCDONALDS!

tim and i hardly ever do fast food. in fact, we have had fast food maybe three times in the past year... i know why. because i LOVE it. i was telling tim how delicious every bite tastes... and why doesn't healthy food taste that good...

i could live on cheeseburgers and fries...

if only it wouldn't show in my face, butt, hips and thighs.

the ugly.

i have had a super rough last couple of days... i told tim, that i wasn't going to blog because i was totally off track of my eating and exercising and felt guilty...tim said "you shouldn't just blog about the good... you should blog about the bad and ugly too." he is right.

my afternoon cravings have been intense. i have been dying for chips and crackers. pretty much anything that is not healthy and full of empty calories.

last night for dinner. tim made an AWESOME pasta dish. it had onion, garlic, cajun seasoning, crushed tomatoes and half and half. the pasta was white. not wheat. i enjoyed EVERY bite of this dinner. and for dessert. i started off with a cadbury egg. ate a cookie. and ended the night with a cowtail.

i stopped running over the past two days because of the 96 degree temperature. it is just way hot to run after work. yep. this is an excuse. and a bad one at that.

starting fresh. i am not waiting until monday. i am trying to learn to stop waiting until monday. because usually monday comes and goes... and unhealthy habits start to stick.

thank you for reading my blog. it really holds me accountable... especially when things get ugly.
